Lovely. I have never found a fossil. But, then again, I have never looked for one. A new year's resolution, perhaps.

Peter, what is the largest ammonite that you have found at RHB? I have just come across a newspaper cutting from the Leeds Mercury in 1886, which describes Mr Lonsdale Bradley, "an eminent Yorshire geologist" chiseling a huge ammonite out of the rocks at Redcar in about 1860. The diameter was measured at 35 inches !
